The Caregiver-Child Relationship as a Vehicle for Restoration
You know your child best and your parenting instincts should be trusted by your providers. I believe the caregiver-child relationship serves as a key component of improving a child's functioning, and I approach psychotherapy and psychological testing with heavy involvement of the caregiver. I am here to walk alongside your family in making meaning of your child's behavior. My promise is we will work together as a team to understand your child better and to promote healing.
I specialize in Infant Mental Health (which includes ages 0-5) and I am passionate about trauma-informed psychotherapy to help restore a child's cognitive, behavioral, and social functioning through the caregiver-child relationship. Early intervention is key and you seeking support for your child is a vital first step for your child's development.
I am equally as passionate about the Neurodiversity Movement and specifically understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder through a neurodiverse lens, meaning autism is simply a difference of the way the brain works, NOT something that needs to be healed. I provide psychological assessment to diagnose autism and I work with you to understand what autism means for your child and your family. My approach to testing is beyond the report and ensuring understanding of results.
Growing up in a low income area, I am very aware of the challenges to receiving great care, especially in mental health. I never want your ability to pay to interfere, so I currently offer "scholarship slots" to meet the needs in our community. Please contact me for more information. This is dependent on availability.
